Lady Gaga räumt bei den MTV Video Music Awards insgesamt acht Moonmen ab


Spektakuläre Performances von Eminem mit Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Robyn, Usher, Florence + The Machine, Linkin Park, Drake mit Mary J. Blige und Swizz Beatz, Bruno Mars mit B.o.B und Paramore, Travie McCoy und Jason Derulo

Lady Gaga übertraf sich in der Nacht auf Montag bei den 27. MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles einmal mehr, sowohl in der Outfit- als auch der Abräumerkategorie: Sie nahm insgesamt acht der begehrten Moonmen-Statuen mit nach Hause, darunter in den Kategorien “Video Of The Year”, “Best Dance Video”, “Best Pop Video” und “Best Female Video.” Eminem, der die Show dieses Jahr mit einer spektakulären Medley-Performance von "Not Afraid" und "Love The Way You Lie" mit Rihanna als Überraschungsact eröffnete, konnte zwei Awards in den Kategorien “Best Male Video” und “Best Hip Hop Video” einstreichen. Die VMA Newcomer 30 Seconds To Mars und Florence + The Machine wurden zum ersten Mal in den Kategorien “Best Rock Video” bzw. “Best Art Direction” ausgezeichnet und Justin Bieber wurde zum “Best New Artist” gewählt.

Genau ein Jahr nachdem Kanye West Taylor Swifts Dankesrede unterbrochen hatte, kehrten die beiden auf die VMA Bühne im Nokia Theatre zurück und setzten sich musikalisch mit dem Drama des letzten Jahres auseinander. Taylor trug mit "Innocence" einen Song vor, der beschreibt, wie sie sich nach den Ereignissen des letzten Jahres fühlte und Kanye stellte erstmals seinen Song "Runaway" (featuring Pusha T von Clipse) vor, der ein persönliches Statement zu den Turbulenzen des vergangenen Jahres sein soll. 
 
Justin Bieber trat zum ersten Mal bei den VMAs auf und performte auf einer Außenbühne "Baby" und "Somebody to Love", während die Jungs von Linkin Park ihre aktuelle Single "The Catalyst" im Griffith Oberservatory vor der Kulisse eines atemberaubenden Sonnenuntergangs zum Besten gaben.
